Creating a Layer Using an Existing Table
💡
Prerequisite: You must have a successfully created data table containing coordinates in the Data tab. If not, refer to Import Data and Creating New Tables and Folders.
1.
In the Map tab, click the Create or Import button in the sidebar and select Layer from the dropdown to create a new visualization layer.
2.
In the new layer popup, select the data table you want to visualize.
a.
If the table has coordinate fields, Maptable will automatically detect and populate the coordinate type and fields.
b.
If the table contains latitude and longitude, manually switch the coordinate type to latitude and longitude, and Maptable will automatically fill in the longitude and latitude.
c.
If there are no suitable fields, select "Create field immediately" from the dropdown to create a new coordinate field in the corresponding data table.
d.
Click Create to finish creating the layer. A point / line / polygon layer will be automatically created.
Coordinate types corresponding to visualization layers:
•
Point / Line / Polygon / Icon / Heat Map / Grid / Hexagon / Cluster:
◦

◦
Latitude and Longitude (select longitude and latitude separately, numerical fields)
